Matrix Converter Based on Trapezoidal Current Injection

The matrix converter (MC) is a direct ac–ac power featuring high density and efficiency. However, the conventional MC (CMC) topologies require control complexity transistor capacity, hindering wide applications. An emerging topology (3CI-MC) based on third-harmonic current injection (3CI) reduces complexity, but requires more transistors complex clamping circuit. This article proposes trapezoidal (TCI) technique to form novel (TCI-MC), which consists of line-commutated (LCC), TCI circuit, voltage source (VSC). Compared with 3CI-MC, proposed TCI-MC not only maintains advantages simple modulation independent also achieves lower stress LCC part total capacity (TTC) lowest among all considered topologies. circuit simplified bidirectional switches are eliminated, reducing implementation cost. Simulation experimental results have verified validity topology.
